How to Be Popular
School stories, Juvenile fiction, Popularity
Does being popular matter? It matters very much—to Steph. That's why this year, she has a plan to get in with the It Crowd in no time flat. She's got a secret weapon: an old book called—what else?—How to Be Popular. What does it take to be popular? All Steph has to do is follow the instructions in The Book, and soon she'll be partying with the It Crowd (including school quarterback Mark Finley) instead of sitting on The Hill Saturday nights, stargazing with her nerdy best pal Becca, and even nerdier Jason (now kind of hot, but still), whose passion for astronomy Steph once shared. Who needs red dwarves when you're invited to the hottest parties in town? But don't forget the most important thing about popularity! It's easy to become popular. What isn't so easy? Staying that way.
Haunted (The Mediator #5)
Young Adult Fiction, Ghost stories, Supernatural in fiction
Is it possible to be haunted by someone who isn't even dead? Suze is used to trouble, but this time she's in deep: Ghostly Jesse has her heart, but Paul Slater, a real flesh-and-blood guy, is warm for her form. And mediator Paul knows how to send Jesse to the Great Beyond. For good. Paul claims he won't do anything to Jesse as long as Suze will go out with him. Fearing she'll lose Jesse forever, Suze agrees. But even if Suze can get Jesse to admit his true feelings for her, what kind of future can she have with a guy who's already dead?
The Princess Diaries (The Princess Diaries #1)
Diaries, Juvenile fiction, Fiction
Mia Thermopolis is pretty sure there’s nothing worse than being a five-foot-nine, flat-chested freshman, who also happens to be flunking Algebra. Is she ever in for a surprise. First Mom announces that she’s dating Mia’s Algebra teacher. Then Dad has to go and reveal that he is the crown prince of Genovia. And guess who still doesn’t have a date for the Cultural Diversity Dance? *The Princess Diaries* is the first book in the beloved, bestselling series that inspired the feature film starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews. (**Note to parents:** The books have much more mature content than the movies.)
All American Girl
Fiction, Heroes, High schools
Ready or Not (All-American Girl #2)
Humorous stories, Family, Presidents
Top ten things Samantha Madison isn't ready for: 10. Spending Thanksgiving at Camp David 9. With her boyfriend, the president's son 8. Who appears to want to take their relationship to the Next Level 7. Which Sam inadvertently and shockingly announces live on MTV 6. While appearing to support the president's dubious policies on families, morals, and yes, sex 5. Juggling her new after-school job at Potomac Video 4. Even though she already has a job as teen ambassador to the UN (that she doesn't get paid for) 3. Riding the Metro and getting accosted because she's "the redheaded girl who saved the president's life," in spite of her new, semipermanent Midnight Ebony tresses 2. Experiencing total role reversal with her popular sister Lucy, who for once can't get the guy she wants And the number-one thing Sam isn't ready for? 1. Finding out the hard way that in art class, "life drawing" means "naked people."
The Princess Diaries, Volume VII
Humorous stories, Student government, Diaries
Princess just want to have funThis spring, Mia's determined to have a good time, despite the fact that the student government over which she presides is suddenly broke. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) Grandmere has an elaborate scheme to simultaneously raise money, catapult Mia to theatrical fame, and link her romantically with an eligible teen bachelor, not her boyfriend. It's no wonder that Michael, the love of her life, seems to think she's a psycho, or worse: not much fun.Is it possible that Mia, soon-to-be star of the stage, president of the student body, and future ruler of Genovia, doesn't know how to party?
