Arcadius was the Eastern Roman Emperor from 395 to 408. He was the son of Theodosius I and his first wife Aelia Flaccilla, and brother of Honorius. Arcadius was born in Hispania, the son of Theodosius I and Aelia Flaccilla, and brother of Honorius. Arcadius became emperor in January 395 after his father's death. He was the first emperor to be entirely raised in the Eastern Roman Empire.
