Sviatlana Hieorhiyeuna Tsikhanouskaya (née Pilipchuk; born 11 September 1982) is a Belarusian opposition leader and political activist. She is widely considered by independent observers and Western institutions to be the democratic winner of the 2020 Belarusian presidential election, though she was prevented from assuming office by the Lukashenko regime. Since being forced into exile, she has evolved from a reluctant candidate into the primary figurehead of the Belarusian national revival, advocating for a democratic Belarus rooted in European values and distinct from the Russian sphere of influence.
