Carolyn Lynne Steinseifer (born February 12, 1968), later known by her married name Carolyn Bates, is an American former competition swimmer and Olympic champion. She won gold medals in the women's 100-meter freestyle, 4×100-meter freestyle relay and 4x100-meter medley relay at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. As a 15-year-old at the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas, Venezuela, she won gold medals in the 4×100-meter freestyle and 4×100-meter medley relays. Read more on Wikipedia
