Mikhail Ivanovich Rostovtzeff, or Rostovtsev (Russian: Михаи́л Ива́нович Росто́вцев; November 10 [O.S. October 29] 1870 – October 20, 1952), was a Russian historian whose career straddled the 19th and 20th centuries and who produced important works on ancient Roman and Greek history. He was a member of the Russian Academy of Science, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society.

2. Iryna Melnykova (1918 - 2010)

With an HPI of 51.92, Iryna Melnykova is the 2nd most famous Ukrainian Historian.  Her biography has been translated into 20 different languages.

Iryna Mykolaivna Melnykova (Ukrainian: Ірина Миколаївна Мельникова; 24 October 1918 – 3 November 2010) was a Soviet and Ukrainian historian of Czechoslovakia. Doctor of Historical Sciences. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Her research interests also include the political and economic history of Central and Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on the interwar period.

Lydia Antonivna Ponomarenko (Ukrainian: Лідія Антонівна Пономаренко; 16 February 1922 – 3 December 2013) was a Ukrainian local historian. A researcher of historical topography and urban toponymy in Kyiv, she was co-author of an encyclopedic directory of Kyiv street names.
