Karl Fredrik "Charles" Ericksen (June 20, 1875 – February 24, 1916) was a Norwegian-American wrestler who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics for the United States. At the 1904 Olympics, he won a gold medal in the freestyle welterweight category, wrestling on the United States team. In 2012, Norwegian historians found documentation showing that Ericksen did not receive American citizenship until 22 March 1905. The historians thus petitioned to have Ericksen's Olympic gold registered as Norwegian.
2. Jon Rønningen (b. 1962)
With an HPI of 36.86, Jon Rønningen is the 2nd most famous Norwegian Wrestler. His biography has been translated into 17 different languages.
Jon Rønningen (born November 28, 1962, in Oslo) is a former Norwegian wrestler and a member of Kolbotn IL (one of the largest sports clubs in Norway). He won a total of nine medals in international championships and was the third Norwegian to win two individual Summer Olympic gold medals, winning gold at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea and the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. His brother Lars Rønningen was also a highly accomplished wrestler. In his 2017 book Hode i klemme (lit. In a headlock), Rønningen revealed that he has struggled with depression all through his life and has attempted suicide.
