1. Lavr Kornilov (1870 - 1918)

Lavr Georgiyevich Kornilov (Russian: Лавр Гео́ргиевич Корни́лов, IPA: [ˈlavr ɡʲɪˈorɡʲɪjɪvʲɪtɕ kɐrˈnʲiləf]; 30 August [O.S. 18 August] 1870 – 13 April 1918) was a Russian military intelligence officer, explorer, and general in the Imperial Russian Army during World War I and the ensuing Russian Civil War. Kornilov was of Siberian Cossack origin. Today he is best remembered for the Kornilov Affair, an unsuccessful endeavor in August/September 1917 with unclear motives, which led to Alexander Kerensky eventually having Kornilov arrested and charged with attempting a coup d'état, and ultimately undermined Kerensky's rule. Kornilov escaped from jail in November 1917 and subsequently became the military commander of the anti-Bolshevik Volunteer Army which took the charge of anti-Bolshevik opposition in the south of Russia. He and his troops were badly outnumbered in many of their encounters, and he was killed by a shell on 13 April 1918 while laying siege to Ekaterinodar, the capital of the Kuban Soviet Republic.

Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, also spelled Baurjan Momish-Uli (Kazakh: Бауыржан Момышұлы, Bawırjan Momışulı; Russified: Бауыржан Момышулы; 24 December [O.S. 11 December] 1910 – 10 June 1982) was a Kazakh-Soviet military officer and author, posthumously awarded with the titles Hero of the Soviet Union and People's Hero of Kazakhstan.

Manshuk Zhiengalikyzy Mametova (Kazakh: Мәншүк Жиенғалиқызы Мәметова, Mänşük Jienğaliqyzy Mämetova; Russian: Маншук Жиенгалиевна Маметова; 23 October 1922 – 15 October 1943) was a machine gunner of the 100th Rifle Brigade in the 21st Guards Rifle Division of the 3rd Shock Army on the Kalinin Front during the Second World War. She became the first Kazakh woman to be awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union after the Supreme Soviet posthumously awarded her the title on 1 March 1944.

Khiuaz Qayrqyzy Dospanova (Russian: Хиуаз Каировна Доспанова, romanized Khiuaz Kairovna Dospanova, Kazakh: Хиуаз Қайырқызы Доспанова; 15 May 1922 – 20 May 2008) was a Kazakh pilot and navigator who served during World War II in the 588th Night Bomber Regiment, nicknamed the "Night Witches." In addition to being the first Kazakh woman officer in the Soviet Air Force, she was the only Kazakh woman to serve in the "Night Witches". Despite sustaining multiple fractures in her legs in a ground collision in 1943, she returned to active duty and continued to participate in sorties against doctor's recommendations; she was eventually awarded the title Hero of Kazakhstan in 2004 for her perseverance, and Atyrau International Airport is named in her honor.

Nina Alexeyevna Lobkovskaya (Russian: Нина Алексеевна Лобковская; born 8 March 1924) was a female sniper in the Red Army during World War II. She attained the rank of lieutenant and commanded a separate women’s sniper company of the 3rd Shock Army during World War II. She was wounded twice and killed 89 people during the war.

He was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation in 2024.
