Gilbert Ryle
Gilbert Ryle (Brighton, 19 augustus 1900 – Oxford, 6 oktober 1976) was een filosoof en een vertegenwoordiger van de generatie van Britse taalfilosofen (de zogeheten ordinary language philosophers) die werden beïnvloed door Wittgensteins taalfilosofie. Hij is voornamelijk bekend vanwege zijn kritiek op het dualisme van René Descartes, waarvoor hij de omschrijving "the ghost in the machine" bedacht.
