His biography is available in 16 different languages on Wikipedia. Igor Talkov is the 1,714th most popular singer, the 2,178th most popular biography from Russia and the 37th most popular Russian Singer.

Igor Talkov was a prominent Soviet/Russian rock singer-songwriter and occasional film actor most famously known for his breakthrough 1987 hit "Chistye prudy" ("Clean Ponds"), composed by David Tukhmanov, which became an instant classic, followed by emotionally charged patriotic and socially critical songs like "Ya vernus'" ("I'll Return"), "Rossiya" ("Russia"), and others blending love ballads with anti-Soviet regime critique during perestroika, making him a beloved voice of late-Soviet disillusionment and Russian identity. He rose rapidly in popularity through the group Elektroklub and his own work, selling millions of records posthumously with enduring hits still streamed widely today. Surprisingly, his life ended in one of Russian show business's most notorious unsolved (until recently) mysteries: he was shot dead backstage at a concert in St. Petersburg's Yubileyny Palace on October 6, 1991, amid a scuffle involving a gun; after decades of controversy and conspiracy theories, in 2025 a Russian court convicted his former concert director Valery Shlyafman in absentia for the murder, sentencing him to 13 years.
