Chung Ling Soo is mostly remembered today for his extensive use of yellowface in his act to falsely represent himself as a Chinese man who spoke little English as well as for his accidental death due to a failed bullet catch trick. In 1898 Robinson authored the book Spirit Slate Writing and Kindred Phenomena exposing the tricks of slate writing and devices used by fraudulent mediums. Robinson performed his first magic show at the age of 14 after learning tricks from his father James Robinson. "
