Harold Gregory Moore, Jr. dit Hal Moore, né le 13 février 1922 à Bardstown et mort le 10 février 2017 à Auburn, est un lieutenant-général des forces armées des États-Unis. Diplômé de West Point en 1945, Hal Moore rejoint l’infanterie comme second-lieutenant. Il complète sa formation à l'École militaire de parachutage de la 11e division aéroportée à Tokyo et en 1948, il se porte volontaire pour rejoindre une unité spéciale testant des parachutes expérimentaux à la 82e division aéroportée à Fort Bragg.
