Dominik Fischnaller is most famous as an Italian luger specializing in men's singles, with a remarkable Olympic record including three bronze medals—his first in the team relay at Beijing 2022, followed by back-to-back individual bronzes in men's singles at Beijing 2022 and the 2026 Milano Cortina Games on home soil, making him one of Italy's most consistent luge performers across four Olympic appearances starting from Sochi 2014. A member of the Centro Sportivo Carabinieri and from a luge family (younger brother of Hans Peter Fischnaller and cousin of Kevin Fischnaller), he has also earned multiple World Championship bronzes, a 2020 European singles title, and a 2023 Luge World Cup overall victory. Surprisingly, after a 15-year long-distance relationship with American luger Emily Sweeney (who competed for the U.S. at the same 2026 Olympics), they married in May 2025, turning their cross-border luge romance into a shared family story as both qualified and slid for medals at the Cortina Games just months later.
