Cha Jun-hwan is most famous as a South Korean men's singles figure skater who has pioneered breakthroughs for his country in the sport, including becoming the first Korean man to win a World Championship medal (silver in 2023), the first to claim a Four Continents title (gold in 2022), and the first to medal at the Grand Prix Final (bronze in 2018–19), while also securing ten consecutive South Korean national titles from 2017 to 2026, multiple Grand Prix bronzes, and strong Olympic performances—finishing 15th at PyeongChang 2018, fifth at Beijing 2022, and competing impressively at Milano Cortina 2026 where he delivered a season-best short program score of 92.72 to place sixth heading into the free skate. Dubbed the "figure skating prince" in Korea, the now-24-year-old from Seoul began skating at age seven initially to build skills for acting roles (he was a former child actor in K-dramas and commercials) but fell in love with the sport's freedom and wind on the ice, leading him to pursue it full-time. Surprisingly, he trained alongside ENHYPEN member Sunghoon as fellow competitive skaters in their youth, and the two later reunited for a skating-inspired performance cover of BTS's "Black Swan" at a 2022 music show, blending his athletic career with K-pop culture in a full-circle moment.
