Vasanth Kumar Shivashankar Padukone (9 July 1925 – 10 October 1964), better known as Guru Dutt, was an Indian film director, producer, actor, choreographer, and writer. Widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of Indian cinema, he made films that have been regarded as some of the finest that Hindi cinema has seen..He made 1950s and 1960s classics such as Pyaasa (1957), Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960), and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962), many being considered among the greatest films in Hindi-language cinema.
