Solomana Kanté (also written as Sùlemáana Kántε, Souleymane Kanté or Sulemaana Kantè; N'Ko: ߛߎ߬ߟߋ߬ߡߊ߬ߣߊ߬ ߞߊ߲ߕߍ߫, 1922 – November 23, 1987) was a Guinean writer, neographer, and educator, best known as the inventor of the N'Ko alphabet for the Manding language varieties of Africa. Kanté created N'Ko, a modern script for, as he saw it, the Manding language in 1949 after five years of experimentation with various writing systems. The script first came into use in Kankan, Guinea and was disseminated from there into other Manding-speaking parts of West Africa.
2. Tierno Monénembo (b. 1947)
With an HPI of 41.01, Tierno Monénembo is the 2nd most famous Guinean Writer. His biography has been translated into 15 different languages.
Thierno Saïdou Diallo, usually known as Tierno Monénembo (born 1947 in Porédaka), is a Francophone Guinean novelist and biochemist. Born in Guinea, he later lived in Senegal, Algeria, Morocco, and finally France since 1973. He has written eight books in all and was awarded the 2008 prix Renaudot for The King of Kahel (le Roi de Kahel).
